EBARA Corporation has received certification from the Science Based Targets Initiative

EBARA Group’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for 2030 are science-based short-term targets consistent with the goals set forth in the Paris Agreement

May 2025. EBARA Corporation has received certification from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*1 that the EBARA Group’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for 2030 are science-based short-term targets consistent with the goals set forth in the Paris Agreement*2.

Background
Under its long-term vision, E-Vision 2030, established in 2020, the EBARA Group identified “comprehensive environmental management” as a material issue and is actively working toward achieving carbon neutrality. Furthermore, our medium-term management plan, E-Plan 2025, designates advancing ESG-focused management as a key area in its Basic Policy, including efforts to reduce environmental impact through its products and services.

Overview
The EBARA Group has set its greenhouse reduction targets to align contributing to the creation of a sustainable society with the Group’s continued growth:

– Reduce Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 55% from FY2018 levels by FY2030 (Target in-line with 1.5℃ level*2)
– Reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions (Category 11) 25% from FY2021 levels by FY2030 (Target in-line with the Well-Below 2°C pathway)
These targets have now been approved as SBT short-term targets as they are consistent with the levels required by the Paris Agreement.

Future Prospects
The EBARA Group aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its value chain (Scope 1, 2, 3) by 2050, and will continue to make further efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a wide range of measures, including promoting energy conservation, expanding the use of renewable energy, and improving the environmental performance of our products and services.

*2 The Paris Agreement, adopted at COP21 (the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) held in December 2015, outlines climate change mitigation measures (efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which cause global warming) that aim to keep the increase in global average temperature well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels(WB 2°C target), as well as to pursue efforts to limit it to 1.5°C (1.5°C target).

About the EBARA Group
The EBARA Group aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing material issues identified in its long-term vision and executing the medium-term management plan to increase corporate value.
